VNUS Treatment

Varicose veins are enlarged veins that are often twisted. They occur most often in the legs, and are more common in pregnant women or obese individuals. These veins can sometimes cause discomfort, although for most people it is more of a cosmetic concern. There are a number of treatments you can try if you are suffering from varicose veins, but one of the newer treatments, called VNUS Closure Fast, is one of the most promising.

VNUS Closure Fast involves inserting a needle into your leg near the beginning of the varicose vein, injecting a local anesthetic and then threading a catheter containing a 6.5 centimeter probe up your leg to where the varicose vein ends near your groin. Radiofrequency energy is used to heat up the probe once it is in place, and it is slowly removed back out through the varicose vein, with the heat causing the vein to collapse. After about a month the newly closed varicose vein is absorbed back into the body. The whole procedure only takes a few minutes to complete, and most people can return to their regular daily activities within about a day.

Because of the nature of the treatment method VNUS in Cartersville, it does not work on small varicose veins or spider veins but instead is intended to treat larger varicose veins. There is a small risk of complication, as with any surgery, although these are not common and most people are pleased with the results of this treatment.
