Treat Spider Veins with Vitamins

As we age and our bodies go through changes, often the circulatory system is affected. Varicose veins and spider veins are the result of abnormal functioning in the circulatory system. Varicose veins can often begin because of faulty valves in the veins. Valves regulate the flow of blood through the veins back to the heart and when they falter the pressure build up can often cause the veins to swell and distort, often becoming painful and inflamed. Spider veins often appear in a blue or red web-like pattern on the surface of the skin. This is often the result of poorly functioning leg veins.

While these types of veins can be a nuisance, painful and even unsightly, there are options to reverse the process through simple vitamins. Vitamin C is often thought of as a cure all. At one point it was sold as the cure for the common cold. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that is capable of boosting the function of the body’s immune system. It also is capable of repairing damage to poorly functioning veins as well as improving flow throughout the circulatory system. Vitamin C can be found in many fruits and vegetables.

Another valuable nutrient for the circulatory system is Vitamin E. Like Vitamin C, this vitamin is also an antioxidant that will strengthen the function of the immune system. It can improve vein function by delivery of oxygen to the veins and reduce the unsightly appearance of spider veins. Vitamin E can be found in many green vegetables as well as many nuts.

The “B” vitamins have many beneficial properties for the body, but Vitamin B6 directly effects cell growth and can restore leg veins while also improving circulation. Vitamin B6 can be found in a variety of foods including fish, turkey, spinach and various nuts.

Vitamin K is another valuable nutrient that can improve spider veins. Vitamin K is a powerful anti-clotting agent and is often used to treat blood clots in legs. It is effective in increasing blood flow throughout leg veins. Vitamin K is found in beef, spinach and cabbage. It can also be purchased in a cream form to be applied to the legs.

Spider veins and varicose veins can be painful as well as an unsightly nuisance, but fighting them with vitamin rich foods and supplements can be the answer for many people.
